Mandy's Recap - Session 1

They thought they wanted more out of life than the menial jobs they were slated for. Little did they know what was coming! A rag-tag group of 16 met up in Port Lissup to guard Gimpy’s wagons, to prove their worth … or at least try. Rathues, Thurmyr, Hue, Groozzuid, Strongreth, Ikham, Miche, Conrad, Thastealyn, Tealpoi, Joseph, Hayle, Tayrin, Illi, Cad, and Randolph began the trek to the Trading Post. Walking and watching, they were sad at the end of the first day when nothing had challenged them. The first night was uneventful as well.

Day two, a group of bandits came from the forest to try to take possession of the goods on the wagon. The group was able to defeat them but when everyone prepared to continue, they noticed the ‘tunnel’. Probably a little too sure of themselves, they headed down. The creatures were strange and scary, like nothing any of them had ever seen or heard of. By the time the place was ‘cleared out’, half our members were dead … the dwarves: Strongreth, Groozzuid, and Thurmyr; an elf: Ikham; and the humans: Hue, Miche, and Conrad. The remaining eight were quiet, humbled, and at least in part, in shock. Gimpy was more than willing to delay to allow the survivors to bury the dead. Rathues, a devoted follower of Elohim, oversaw the ceremony.

As much as the group was feeling broken and ready to go back to their plain and boring life afterwards, when the bandits attacked, a fire seemed to ignite in each of them and they were able to hold strong together and win, defeating nearly all of them. The eight realized that they were a group … a strong group that, if they used their heads, could achieve great things.

Finally arriving at the Outpost, Gimpy took them to meet Jack at his general store. As promised, everyone was geared up with both weapons and armor having proven themselves and survived. A week’s stay was also paid for by Gimpy. Many other groups were seen coming and going from the Outpost. We were assigned to help guard the wall while we stayed here and met Freila, an elven woman. Aaron also made himself known to the group. He was a young human, the only survivor of his group, very skittish and jumpy when he came to the group with a map. At first, the eight were very leery to trust him and would not buy his map that he wished to sell.
