Aaron's Diary - Session 5

1st Day Out from Trading Post

Note to self, wear in new armor before rushing off into wild. The breastplate is so stiff and has an unpleasant smell, not unlike the back alley of Tenement Boulevard in Port Lissup. Bottom line I chafe and my skin in raw in several locations. Perhaps I should be grateful as it keeps my mind off being alone away from the comforts of the Trading Post.

My plan is to catch up to the bold group of adventurers that made good on my shared map and location. Their work made us all wealthy, almost beyond imagining. In fact, I found my spirit buoyed by their success and now I am off to join them.

3rd Day Out from Trading Post

After careful consideration I felt my best bet was to go back to where my map led the group. I believe they will return to try their hand and wrestling more wealth from the tomb.

4th Day Out from Trading Post

Sure enough they came back to the site! Moreover, they have decided to let me join them as an equal partner.

5th Day Out from Trading Post

The site is surrounded by thick foliage. Hours of work cut out a path to what appears to be an ancient mausoleum. The others explain that the statues at the foot of each sarcophagus animate if they are touched in any way. Knowing this simply put me into a hyper intense state of mind. We surrounded one of the unopened sarcophagus and purposely shoved off the lid, alert to the likely danger of the guardian statue. It was still quite surprising to me to see the stone suddenly animate. We bashed, cut, and stabbed at it and quickly made short work of the stone guardian. We were rewarded with ancient gold coins over the eyes and a beautiful lion shaped belt buckle. I can honestly say this moment was one of the most satisfying of my short life. Devon would be proud of how I acquitted myself today.

With careful teamwork we perfected our process and overcame 3 more of the sarcophagi. We also discovered a strange back wall that seemed to phase in and out of existence. After sending in a pair of rabbits during one of the phase parts and seeing one of the rabbits return I was convinced the risk to go through the wall to be acceptable. My newly minted courage coursed through me as stepped through to discover the cliff edge on the other side, and a strange serene moon-like ambiance. The others were led through after the wall phasing cycled a few times. No sense rushing something like getting killed as the wall solidified.

A short examination of the area led us towards the sounds of someone working hot and hard at smith forge. A ghostly man hammered with purpose and intent at his craft over a blazing forge. The ghost mentioned something about already paying most of the price and wanted to know if we wanted anything made knowing that there would be a price for it. I overcame my fears and asked for a set of magic thieves tools without giving it a second thought! Suddenly the ghost began his crafting with renewed purpose and after a short while presented me with the most cunning set of tools one could imagine. No one else seemed to have the courage to ask the eerie ghost smith for something. No, only I had the courage to ask!
